C'mon, Gov. Schwartzenegger, do the right thing
Sign the legislation! Allow consenting couples to legally marry.
Honestly, everyone thinks the world as we know it will come to an end if same-sex marriage is made legal.
The only thing that will come to an end with the passage of same-sex marriage legislation is that a whole bunch of people will finally get their civil rights. If you don't like Same Sex Marriage, that's fine... just date and marry people ONLY of the opposite sex. You don't have to attend any gay marriages, you don't have to watch couples swap spit in the grocery store. (I hope, anyway. I don't want to see ANYONE, gay or straight, making out. It's gross.)
California is poised... now if only their governor shows some class!

This is how it should happen. The epople are (presumably) speaking through their elected officials. No judicial activists legislating from the bench, just a good old fashioned law. I hope Arnie signs the bill.

But Scotty, why SHOULD the people vote on who gets rights and who shouldn't? Didn't the framers of the constitution specifically say that the MINORITY should not be OPPRESSED by the MAJORITY?

Excellent point Pat. As we have said in the past, the 14th amendment ought to put this issue to bed, but since it hasn't (in practice) it falls to the legislature to try and correct it.

According to articles I read earlier today (but can no longer find), AS may be reconsidering the veto. I'm not sure I believe it, given that he's also announced he's running for reelection and failure to veto will piss off his base, but I'll take any hope over none.

First and foremost, in all issues gay, the underlying fact that there is no proof that the gay community is an actual minority. What I mean is that there is no proof of a gay gene, and anyone in the lifestyle can, as many have, leave and become happy heterosexuals. Until it is proven that the lifestyle is NOT chosen, we should not treat them as a minority, and they should have no special rights. We should, however, pray for them to see the err of their ways, repent and turn to Jesus as their strength to leave this lifestyle.
